The honest case
Most equipment holds. Paying to watch one quiet itinerary would be hard to justify.
When a swap does happen, it is usually silent. Your booking still shows a seat number, but the aircraft under it is different. The booking does not tell you what that means for the seat you chose.
The mechanism

The watch checks for a change to the scheduled aircraft.

It names the previous aircraft and the newly scheduled aircraft. A matching map opens from the email, so you can check your seat while there is still time to change it. If no matching map is available, the button returns to flight search.
The allowance
A return trip with one connection is already four flights. Put two trips on the calendar and a one-flight allowance runs out before the second departure.
The free plan watches one flight. Pro gives the trips on your calendar room to fit, up to 10 flights at once.
Where it lands

The email names the flight, the previous aircraft and the newly scheduled aircraft. When SeatMap has a matching rated map, the button opens it. Otherwise, the button returns you to flight search.

Watching requires an account with a verified email. Then start with a flight number and date. The flight lookup must return usable data, and the flight must not have departed. If the lookup cannot find the service, the date sits beyond available flight data or watch setup is unavailable, SeatMap will tell you instead of starting a watch it cannot run.
