Volotea A319
Volotea A320
Volotea is a Spanish low-cost airline built around leisure travel between secondary European cities, the kind of point-to-point routes the bigger carriers skip. It connects regional airports across Spain, Italy, France, Greece and beyond, often as the only direct option on a given city pair. The proposition is simple and seasonal: get holidaymakers between two smaller cities without a connection through a major hub.
The fleet is all Airbus narrowbody, standardised on the A319 and A320. Both are configured as single-class economy in a 3-3 layout, sized for short leisure sectors rather than long haul. The A320 is the larger of the two and carries more rows, but the seating logic on both is the same: one economy cabin, and the seat you pick is about position rather than class.
Expect a straightforward low-cost economy cabin on either aircraft. Seat pitch is what you would look for on a short leisure route, so the flight length works in your favour: most Volotea sectors are a couple of hours, where a standard seat is fine and the extra-legroom rows are a nice-to-have rather than a need. The cabin runs 3-3 throughout, with the familiar choices around windows, aisles and proximity to the galleys and lavatories.
On short leisure hops the biggest levers are legroom and a quick exit, so the exit rows and the front of the cabin are worth targeting if you can. Avoid the last few rows near the rear galley and lavatory if you want a quieter, less trafficked spot. Because both aircraft are single-class, there is no premium cabin to weigh up, and the decision comes down to whether you value the fast walk off the plane, the extra stretch of an exit row or simply a window to lean on.
