Atlantic Airways is the flag carrier of the Faroe Islands, flying out of Vágar to Copenhagen, other Scandinavian cities and a handful of UK points. It is a small operation built around a narrowbody Airbus fleet and a set of routes that matter more to islanders than to the wider map.

The flights are short by long-haul standards, so the seat decision here is about a couple of comfortable hours rather than surviving an overnight. Choose for the window if the approach into Vágar interests you and for the aisle if a quick step off matters at the far end.

The passenger fleet is Airbus A320-family, and we hold several layouts for it: a standard A320, a denser A320 configuration and the newer A320neo. All of them are arranged as a single economy cabin across the aircraft.

The differences between the layouts come down to how many rows are fitted and where the exits and service areas fall, rather than any change of class. Check the exact map for the aircraft you are booked on, because the good rows shift slightly between them.

Expect one class of travel throughout. Seats are the usual six-abreast 3-3 arrangement you would find on any short-haul A320, with recline and legroom that read as standard for the type.

Because there is no separate premium cabin, the way to buy comfort is by picking your row rather than paying for a wider seat. An exit row or a seat near the front does the practical work here.

On a short hop the trade-offs are simple. Aisle seats near the front get you off first at a small hub where that can save real minutes; window seats hold the view of the North Atlantic and the mountainous approach into Vágar.

Avoid the last row where recline is usually limited and the galley is close, and be mindful of the rows beside the wing if you want an uninterrupted window. The seat map for your specific aircraft marks where those fall.
