Alice Springs Airport (ASP) is the regional airport for Alice Springs, the town at the centre of the Northern Territory and the main service centre for Australia's Red Centre. It sits about 15km south of the town, and most of its traffic is tourists heading to or from Uluru, Kings Canyon, the West MacDonnell Ranges and the wider outback, alongside residents and resource-sector workers moving in and out of Central Australia.

It is a single-terminal regional airport, not a hub. Passenger numbers are modest and the flying is almost entirely domestic, with a handful of routes connecting Alice Springs to the eastern capitals, Adelaide and Darwin. The terminal is small enough that the whole departure process happens in one compact building.

Qantas (with QantasLink) is the busiest operator here, followed by Virgin Australia. Between them they run the domestic trunk routes that connect Alice Springs to the major capitals and to Adelaide and Darwin, flown mostly by single-aisle jets and regional turboprops rather than widebodies. Airnorth adds the Northern Territory regional network, and Alliance Airlines operates here as well, including charter and resources-sector flying common across Central Australia.

The network is domestic and point-to-point. There are no scheduled international services and no long-haul; the character is a regional airport feeding the capital-city hubs, where most passengers connect onward for anything beyond Australia.

There is one terminal, and it opens about 90 minutes before the first departure. The drive from Alice Springs town is roughly 15km, and the airport is reached by car, taxi or private hire, or the Alice Wanderer shuttle that meets scheduled flights and runs between the airport and town hotels. Car rental is straightforward, with the major firms at the terminal. Parking is surface car park only, with short-term bays opposite the terminal entrance and a cheaper long-term lot nearby. There is no rail link.

Check-in and security are quick by big-airport standards, so you do not need to arrive hours early for a domestic flight. There is a Qantas Club lounge for eligible Qantas passengers; beyond that the terminal keeps to the basics, with cafe and shop facilities and wi-fi. Plan for the heat in summer and the distance from town when timing your run to the airport.
