JAL uses a one-two-one reverse-herringbone layout, so every Business seat has direct aisle access without disturbing anyone else. Each seat converts to a fully flat bed. The window seats tend to feel the most private; the centre pairs suit travelling companions who want to sit side-by-side.

Premium Economy sits in two-three-two abreast, offering slightly more pitch and width than the two-four-two economy layout. The seat itself is wider and often comes with enhanced meal service. On long transpacific or European routes the extra space is meaningful; on shorter sectors the gap closes.

Bulkhead rows deliver noticeably more legroom and no reclined seat in front — useful on longer sectors. The trade-off is no under-seat bag storage during taxi, takeoff, and landing, and the tray table folds out of the armrest rather than the seat back, which some find awkward. Exit rows offer a similar legroom advantage with slightly fewer restrictions.
