Japan Airlines E190

Business on the E190 uses a two-one layout across the narrow fuselage, so some rows have one seat on one side and a pair on the other. The single-seat position is the most private; paired seats share a row but both have direct aisle access. It is a recliner product, not lie-flat.

The two-two layout removes the middle seat entirely, which is a genuine comfort advantage over the three-three layout of a 737 or A320 Economy cabin. Seat width is broadly similar, but the absence of a middle-seat neighbour changes the character of the flight meaningfully.

The E190's engines are mounted on the rear fuselage, so the last few rows sit very close to the power source. The engine noise in those rear rows is noticeably louder than the front of the cabin — if you are sensitive to engine sound, front Economy rows or the Business cabin are the quieter choices.
