The stretched A330 on Qantas's medium and long-haul runs into Asia. Same wing and engines as the -200, a longer fuselage — so more seats and a longer cabin. Business is a fully flat 1-2-1 suite; where a Premium Economy cabin is fitted it sits between Business and Economy and is one of the better premium products in the fleet.
Business is the same lie-flat suite as the -200 — direct aisle access and dining that holds up. Premium Economy, where fitted, buys noticeably more room than Economy for a real saving on the Business fare. In Economy, the exit rows are the legroom pick, though they don't recline.
The deep rear of this long cabin is the part to skip: more engine noise, a long walk to the forward lavatories, and among the last off. The middle pair of the centre block in Economy has neither window nor aisle — fine for a short hop, less so on a long sector to Asia.
For Business passengers the product is the same — one-two-one layout, same seat width and bed length. Economy is also structurally identical in layout. The -300 is longer, so the Economy section has more rows, which means the back of the plane is a longer walk and further from the forward galley. Otherwise, the day-to-day flying experience is very similar.
Qantas uses the A330-300 primarily on international routes to Asia and other medium-to-long-haul destinations. Specific schedules change seasonally, so it is worth confirming the aircraft type on your booking before committing to a particular seat — Qantas occasionally swaps equipment on popular routes.
The outer two seats of the four-seat middle block each border an aisle on one side, making them the least bad options in that block. The two innermost seats of the block are hemmed in on both sides with no direct aisle access — those are the positions to avoid when travelling solo. The real trade is between any central-block seat and an outer-pair seat, and the outer pair wins clearly.
