QantasLink Dash 8 Q400 (78-seat) · 78 seats
This is the higher-density version of the Q400, squeezing 78 seats in versus the standard 74. The extra four seats come from tighter spacing, so expect slightly less room than the 74-seat variant. Same 2-2 layout, same turboprop experience, same regional routes. It runs on busier regional services where QantasLink needs the extra capacity.
Same advice as the 74-seat version: rows 1-4 for quick deplaning and less propeller noise. Window seats on the port side for approach views. The 2-2 layout means every seat is window or aisle, which is a clear comfort advantage over any 3-3 configured jet.
Rows 18-23 at the back get propeller noise and vibration. The tighter spacing in this variant means the rear rows feel even more cramped than the 74-seat version. Wing rows 9-14 transmit structural vibration. The small rear galley is a bottleneck on full flights.
This Qantas De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400 features 78 seats in a Economy configuration. Our analysis has identified 10 seats rated as "Best" or "Good" for comfort and convenience.
