IATA 321 / ICAO A321
SeatMap.app currently has 61 published Airbus A321-200 configurations from 47 airlines. Use this aircraft hub to compare 102-231 seats, cabin classes, and airline-specific layouts before opening a full seat map.
The Airbus A321 is the largest member of the A320 single-aisle family, a stretched version that carries more passengers over the same short and medium-haul routes. Airlines reach for it on their busiest domestic trunk routes and on longer thin routes where a widebody would be too much aircraft, so you will meet it on peak-hour capital-city services and, increasingly, on longer over-water hops that a smaller narrowbody could not manage.
It keeps the familiar single-aisle, three-and-three layout of the A320, just with more rows. That extra length matters for seat choice: the cabin is long enough that where you sit changes how quickly you board and leave, how close you are to a lavatory, and which of the two sets of exit rows you are near.
The A321 is where operator differences really show. The longer-range variants are often fitted with a proper business or premium cabin and a more generous economy, aimed at longer flying, while the domestic-configured jets pack in a dense single-class economy for high-frequency short hops. Some carriers run a lie-flat business cabin on their premium A321s; others treat the type as pure economy capacity. The seat map for your airline is the only way to know which you are getting.
Exit rows are more plentiful than on the A320 because of the longer fuselage, so there are more extra-legroom rows to aim for, but also more rows with restricted recline sitting just ahead of them. Galley and lavatory placement varies too, and on a jet this long that changes which rows sit in the quiet middle of the cabin versus the busier ends.
Aim for an exit row or the front of economy for the most legroom and the quickest exit. Be wary of the rows immediately ahead of each exit, which frequently have reduced recline, and of the very back of the cabin, which is close to the rear galley and lavatories and the last to deplane. On the longer-range premium versions, a forward window in economy keeps you well clear of the galley traffic.
Since the same A321 airframe can be a comfortable long-haul cabin for one airline and a dense commuter layout for another, compare the airline configurations above and open the full seat map before you commit to a seat. The seat-by-seat ratings on each map flag the good and the compromised rows for that exact layout.
